Long before the Kardashians, there was Alice.  She was the daughter of one of America’s favorite Presidents and married a man who’d become Speaker of the House in an era when tabloid journalism was exploding.  She was tall, gorgeous, and every other sentence she uttered was a sound bite that endures to this day.  She was Alice Roosevelt Longworth.

For the first time in Los Angeles, Kitty Felde’s one-woman show (with a ghost) will take the stage. Melanie MacQueen and Daniel Leslie will play daughter and father in a staged reading at Theater 40 on Monday night, October 12th. The performance is free, though a $10 donation is suggested.

A talkback with the author will follow the one-act play.

The piece is set on the eve of Tricia Nixon’s wedding.  Alice is spinning her version of her life’s story to an unseen reporter – though most of the story is an attempt to gain her father’s attention and approval.  The ghost of Theodore Roosevelt  is that second character who offers his version of events.  

ALICE was a hit at the Naples Performing Arts Center and “Critic’s Pick” of the Washington Post for its outing at the Capital Fringe Festival. And now, for one night only, ALICE is coming to LA.
